Candidate Diary Commenting Rules Part II

The first presidential primary is still more than 5 months away, but around here it may as well be next week.  If you're new to mydd one of the first things you will probably notice is all of the presidential candidate diaries.  If you're a long time veteran around here, then you must have noticed the geometric increase of candidate diaries.  It's been quite a flood.  People either promoting their favorite candidate, or bashing their least favored or posting horse race information and analysis.  In either case, if you're planning on joining in on the fun there are some rules that you need to follow.  For now I'm just going to go over the rules for commenting.  This diary will cover commenting on primary polling diaries(that is, diaries that contain polling information and analysis only).  Please see Part I for rules on commenting in promotion diaries.  If you haven't read it, you should, or else this diary won't make much sense.  Also, I'll post a candidate diary diary[sic] rules soon.

In my last post, I profiled the different "posting personalities" to choose from.  When commenting on polling diaries, there are some additional personalities to choose from that are mutually exclusive from the others.

Additional posting personalities
Some of these require a definition because the name may be misleading.

Neutral
This means that you don't hate or love any candidate.  You are genuinly undecided. This is a theoratical personality only as it is yet to be observed.  It is only included for completeness sake.

Neutral with leaner
This is pretty straightforward.  You lean towards a candidate, but haven't fully committed yet.  You must always mention that you're only a leaner thinking that this lends you more credibility to your analysis-even though it won't.

Pretender
This is someone who really has chosen a candidate, but claims to be Neutral or a leaner.  You do this because you actually think that it'll make you seem more credible when doing analysis. As if credibility has anything to do with it.

Can't take a fucking hint
This is a special case if you're still holding out support thinking that Al Gore will enter the race.

Commenting rules
All of these rules are in addition to the previous rules.  Note that since Neutral is theoratical and leaners and pretenders do have chosen candidates, only "can't take a fucking hint" have explicit posting rules.

The Diaried Poll Shows Obama is up
If you're an Obama supporter, agree with the analysis and point out that Hillary's days are numbered.
If you're an Edwards supporter point out how happy you are that the "top 2" are battling it out while your guy is going to secretly take it all.  Or, Spin one obscure fact that this is a positive for Edwards.
If you're a Hillary supporter dismiss it as "one poll" and point out that Obama doesn't lead in a single early primary state.  Or, just point to all of the other polls that show Hillary is ahead.
If you "can't take a fucking hint" point out how well Al Gore did in the poll

The Diary poll shows Hillary is up
If you're an Obama supporter, dismiss it as name recognition-even though Obama has lost support since previous polls.  Or, Spin one obscure fact that this is a positive for Obama.
If you're a Hillary supporter laugh at the pitiful denial that the Obama and Edwards supporters are in. Or, just point to all of the other polls that show Hillary is ahead.
If you're an Edwards supporter point out that he's at least still ahead in Iowa.  Or, Spin one obscure fact that this is a positive for Edwards.
If you "can't take a fucking hint" point out how well Al Gore did in the poll

The Diary poll shows Edwards is up
If you're and Edwards supporter, agress with the analysis and refer to Edwards as the real deal.
If you're an Obama supporter, point out that Hillary's days are numbered.  Or, Spin one obscure fact that this is a positive for Obama.
If you're a Hillary supporter, dismiss it as "one poll" and point out that Hillary is gaining-even though she's not.  Or, just point to all of the other polls that show Hillary is ahead.
If you "can't take a fucking hint" point out how well Al Gore did in the poll
